Amazon Web Services, Datapipe Selected as Infrastructure Providers for DSB

AMAZON WEB SERVICES, DATAPIPE SELECTED AS INFRASTRUCTURE PROVIDERS FOR DSB

13.03.2017

London, UK – The ANNA Derivatives Service Bureau (DSB) today announced that Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been selected as the cloud services provider for the DSB, alongside Datapipe as the Service Provision Provider (SPP) for the DSB platform.  With the engagement of these companies, the DSB initiates build-out of the infrastructure to address global requirements of market participants and regulators. The DSB platform will provide near real-time allocation of International Securities Identification Numbers (ISINs) for OTC derivatives, as well as the ability to download the full archive of these ISINs and their associated reference data.

“Securing Amazon Web Services and Datapipe for infrastructure provision and management is another major step forward in the DSB’s mission to deliver OTC derivative ISINs to the industry,” said Emma Kalliomaki, managing director of the Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA) and the DSB. “We are enthusiastic about the massive resources and proven expertise they bring to this ambitious development project, and we look forward to their provision of the custom-architected and managed solution to meet our global needs.”

Datapipe and AWS were selected following a formal RFP process managed by BearingPoint, the management and technology consultancy that serves as trusted advisor to ANNA in development and oversight of start-up activities, as well as business strategies and practices. AWS is a leading provider of highly reliable, scalable, low-cost cloud services to millions of customers across the globe. Datapipe, which will provide customization and management services for the infrastructure, is an AWS Partner Network (APN) Premier Consulting Partner with expertise in architecting, migrating and managing next-generation technology environments.

“ANNA’s decision to build the DSB on AWS demonstrates the importance of building mission-critical industry utilities on secure, scalable, resilient and globally distributed infrastructure,” said Scott Mullins, head of worldwide financial services business development, Amazon Web Services. “The DSB and its users will benefit from AWS’s global scale, cost efficiencies, and secure cloud services, and we are delighted to be selected as DSB’s cloud services provider.

Stewart Smythe, managing director of Datapipe Europe said, “We were able to address the global requirement of DSB and use Datapipe’s expertise combined with AWS infrastructure to provide it with a managed solution for the DSB platform. The infrastructure is ready to support its requirement for the near real-time allocation of ISINs and it delivers OTC derivative ISINs in time for MiFID II regulations that come into effect on the 3rd January, 2018.”

The development timeline of the DSB is keyed to the enforcement date of the EU’s MiFID II regulation. enabling users to transition into production before European regulatory reporting of some OTC derivatives becomes mandatory in January. User Acceptance Testing is due to launch on 3 April 2017, and UAT registration is now open. DSB production service begins on 2 October 2017.
